
One of Americans' worst nightmares happened at 19 of January for 12 hours, the known app TikTok with countless American creators was banned for 12 hours, and now fortunately is back and accessible in the US.
You might be wondering why the app was banned restricting the 170 million users in the US. The main reason was due to national security, the U.S officials believed and feared that the Chinese government could use the app to spy on Americans, influence public opinion, or even access sensitive data, as Chinese law requires companies to cooperate with intelligence efforts. Lawmakers compared TikTok to a “spy balloon” on Americans phones, citing its ability to track locations, read messages, and have access to personal data. While TikTok launched “Project Texas” to secure US user data the Justice Department said the measure was insufficient, so they thought the best option was to ban the app permanently to protect American data.
When Americans got the information the app was being banned they entered a moment of panic because there are countless amount of American content creators with job that depend on TikTok, so they started migrating to different apps such as Lemon 8, or the Red app.
So on January 19, the app was officially banned from the US, some creators like Kattie fang tried using a VPN to post that tiktok was really banned, all users from America received the message below:

However after the time of 12 hours the problem was lucky fixed by President Donald Trump, after many negotiations and discussions on securing a deal that would protect American users' data. It was suggested a partnership to keep tiktok available in the US, while solvig security issues, and so the app was unbaned after “12 hours of panic”.
