The most important sports trip within EABH , ISSL, is supposedly ending next semester.
At this moment EABH is going through the risk of losing a U18 tournament called ISSL. Which is basically where 8 American schools get together for a tournament that has two sports per season, and lasts 3 and half days. It’s where not only students have a good experience through playing but with making new friends and memories.

This tournament is really important for many students not only in EABH but the other schools who are participating. Therefore it’s still in discussion with the ASSB (American School Sociation of Brazil) if they are really going to go forward with this decision. However not everything is lost, they are thinking of recreating a new tournament! Where all the American schools would play together, because before the 16 schools were separated in two similar tournaments, 8 in ISSL and the other 8 in Big 8.
Along with that they want to increase the trip days from 3.5 to 7, thinking about the students who play 2 sports in that tournament. Mr. Jaison, director of the sports department, said his opinion about students who play two sports “One of the problems that I see as an athletic director when we have the ISSL is our duo athletes, which is 75% of our athletes, making them play 4 games per day. And it can be a lot for them, making this new tournament a good thing because the game days are divided in half for the feminine from one of the sports and masculine from the other sport, in each half.”. Another big change mentioned by Mr. Jaison very briefly mentioned that the ISSL will not only expand to this new championship but also add a U16 tournament together with it, for 9th and 10th graders mostly.
But the biggest question is, will the price increase? Because it’s very important to consider whose parents can’t afford those prices, not all parents want to spend all that money on those trips even with ISSL today. Still, Mr. Jaison wants to discuss the prices considering making it more cheap for the athletes and specifically for those who only play one sport “We have to discuss this, especially because of those people who doesn't play two sports, because the price will increase but we don’t know how much”
I asked a student who has gone to the ISSL for 4 years in a row, Giovana Muzzi, what she thinks about the possible loss of the ISSL tournament: “ For me, I like the ISSL a lot, I have passed through many people during those championships. Who today I care a lot about and they became part of my memories. Even though it’s good to have new schools, it will have more difficulties for the athletes with the price increase”.
This concurs that the possible change of championship can be both positive and negative for EABH’s athletes, and just how much memories this has brought to many teens who maybe in the future can’t go to those trips because of economic issues. However, the opportunity of having all the American schools together in one championship, is very good even more by separating the quantity of games.
