In the beginning of the new semester in 2024, the leadership team of EABH sent out an email to every student in middle school about the sudden ban of cellular devices in middle school. This has caused a lot of frustration and discussions between the middle school students, since phones have become an important part of their daily life for schoolworks, communications and organizations.
Most of the students find this extremely unfair since the school counselors only decided to restrict phones in middle school but not including the high school students, some even find this restriction as unnecessary as it sounds.
Some of the teachers even had predictions about phone banning in EABH back in the previous semesters due to the over-reliance on this small device. Which is somehow true by the amount of times that students have been distracted in class due to the small device and the inseparable feeling they have whenever they need to leave it in their backpack, even if it's just for 45 minutes.
But still, students argued that the completely-takeaway is unnecessary since it would only worsen the current situation. Certain members from the leadership team also find the rule unnecessary and extreme for the students since the school decided to restrict it for 8 hours.
As the second semester came up, the Brazilian government decided to restrict all phones from every student during school time, the word spread quickly among the students.
This sudden change surely slightly changed the high schooler’s life since they didn’t suffer from the pain tha the middle schoolers had to suffer from last semester. But we guess that they will have to get through it just like the middle schoolers.
Even till now, you can still hear the students discussing this topic, claiming how the law is unfair, how the rule is unfair and the school or the federal government should do something about it. The discussion isn’t likely to fade away soon, we are expecting further changes in the future, a change that everyone is satisfied with.
Will this ever happen?
