  • Y… ¿cómo estás? ¿Te sientes bien?- pregunte

  • Mm, mas o menos mi cabeza me duele y tambien mi espalda- ella dijo normalmente

English:

It was a typical Friday night, which was based on: me, food and movies about unreal romances that would never happen to me. I was very calm when I received a call from the parents of my best friend, Lana. I answered the call since I did not know what they might want at this time of night.

  • Bella, we called to let you know that Lana is in the hospital- Lana's mother said with a totally worried and nervous tone.

  • What!!?? - I asked without understanding

  • Lana had an accident, she was with some friends and it seems that they were drunk, we are going to the hospital, if you want we can pick you up- explained Laura, Lana's mother

  • Yes, please, I'll just let my parents know and I'll look for my bag- I replied to Laura

  • Okay, we'll be there in about 7 minutes- laura said and ended the call

I ran to my parents' room and quickly explained the situation to them, they told me It was Okay and to call them to tell them if there was any news. I went to the kitchen grabbed my bag and keys and ran outside where Lana's parents' car was waiting for me, I got in the car and we rushed to the hospital; When we got there a doctor approached us and explained the situation, it seemed that Lana had had hit her to head really bad and that she had to operate, she explained that she was stable and that if the parents agreed the surgery would be done in 2 days. Lana's parents agreed and then we sat on some seats until they said we could go see Lana.

Three hours passed, at that time it was almost two in the morning when the nurse went to tell us that we could see her. We went to the room where we found Lana on a bed lying unconscious. I couldn't stand the scene so I ran out of the place and went straight to my house. Since I didn't live very far from the hospital, I got home quite quickly. Upon entering my house, I ran to my room where I grabbed my quilt and threw myself on my bed; I cried all night. I couldn't stop thinking about Lana and what my life would be like without her. The next day I plucked up courage and decided to go to the hospital. When I got there I discovered that she had woken up and that she was already speaking. I decided to go visit her at the hospital. When I got there I went into the room where she was, she was lying quietly looking out the window, when she heard me come in, she turned to look at me and a smile came out of her face and she said "hi" with a weak tone, I replied "hi" and walked over to talk

  • I heard you came to see me last night- she said

  • Yes, I'm sorry I didn't stay long, I just couldn't bear to see you that way- I reply shyly

  • It's ok, no problem- she told me

  • And how are you? Are you feeling alright? - I asked.

  • Mm, kind of, my head hurts and so does my back- she said normally

  • What happened yesterday? I asked

  • I'm not sure, but I remember that we went to a party and drank alcohol, then we decided to go for a ride in Matias's new car and that's all I remember, the rest is a blur in my mind- she told me

  • Well, at least you're alive- I said with a laugh

She looked at me and smiled, we talked for the rest of the day, until night came and I had to go home; that night i thought about lana and that the next day she was going to have an operation, but after that day i was more sure that she would manage to have an operation without any problem. Lana's operation was risky which meant there was a chance she wouldn't resist the operation, but I had faith in her. The next day I went to the hospital before she had surgery and we talked and laughed for a long time until they told me that they had to take Lana to the operating room, we said goodbye and she went to the operating room; The surgery was going to last some hours so I decided to find a comfortable place to wait. Those hours were the longest hours of my life, in that time that I was waiting for her, all kinds of thoughts crossed my mind but I tried to keep myself only in the good ones. It had already been an hour so I decided to go for a walk and clear my mind when I saw some nurses running to the operating room where Lana was, at that moment I was worried so I asked what was happening but nobody gave me an answer, I went back to reception and asked one of the nurses what was going on and they told me that the patient was having a stroke. At that moment I felt that my life was collapsing I ran out into the street and sat on a bench and started crying, I didn't want to lose her, she was everything to me, I couldn't bear her death, I didn't know what I was going to do so I had no choice but to go back inside and hope everything turns out okay.

Unfortunately she didn't resist the operation, so I had no choice but to follow the same path as her.
