In an unexpected turn of events, the Lady Hawks were called to play against the EAR, Escola Americana de Recife's Eagles. With the help of Mr. Jamie and Mr. Guilherme Galvão, mostly known as Portugui, the girls warmed up and were ready for the game. Just like the boys, the girls grouped up for a prayer before the game.
Right from the start, the great performances from Bianca Birman (33), Maria Luiza Motta (2), Júlia Ribeiro (14), and Brunna Gontijo (14) gave hope for the Hawks. Soon after, a throw-in by an EAR player led to a precise shot that landed the first goal of the game. Communication issues began to increase among the Hawks, until Júlia Prates (5), Laura Calixto (17, and the captain Mariana Lana (13) brought renewed energy to the field. Despite their efforts, the Eagles striked again in the beginning of the second half, widening the gap to 2-0.
Laura Lima (29) entered the field to give some energy to the Hawks. Soon after, Marina Cambraia (12) tried to head the ball to stop another potential goal, but unfortunately, got injured and had to leave the field. Laura Prates (18) stepped in her place, to make sure the team stayed strong. Giovanna Muzzi (8) also entered the game to back up the team. When the Lady Hawks seemed to be running out of hope, Laura Calixto (17) made a powerful cut through the Eagle's defense, scoring the first goal of the Hawks with a lot of talent and giving hope to the team. With the score at 2-1 and time running out, in the last minute of the game, Marina Cambraia (12) completely recovered from her previous injury, re-entered the match with determination and just like a hero, scored the second goal of the Hawks, ending the match with a 2-2 score.
The Lady Hawks' resilience and ability to fight back were shown off in the game, and in the end, their efforts paid off. They showed a lot of ability on the field. Go Lady Hawks!
