Following, the captains of the OLM’s cheerleading team, Tabata, and the basketball team, Maria Julia, were called to the stage and emphasized that the purpose of ISSL is not just bringing a medal home, but the relationships you build in the process. Afterwards, they called all the Athletic Directors to the stage where Mr. Jaison went up to represent EABH.
The ceremony proceeded with standing for the Brazilian, American, and United Kingdom national anthems, in which the entire crowd fell silent to pay their respects. The moment that followed, coaches and teachers were called upon to rise, which they received a sound of applause. Their role in shaping better athletes but most importantly, better people, was deeply appreciated.
Next, the student-athletes were reminded of the challenges they will face in the season ahead. It was made clear that the true victory is not just about victory, but how you face adversity, which received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
