At 10:30 AM, the Hawks started their first soccer game in the International Schools Sports League. The match was against TBS Barra, and the boys started in a great spirit by doing a team prayer, setting a hopeful tone for the game. Since the beginning, it was clear that it wasn't going to be an easy match. The British School of Rio de Janeiro Barra was coming out strong, while the Hawks struggled with communication.
Despite the difficulties, Massimiliano Vicintin (16), the team's goalkeeper, was making great defenses. The pressure from the Falcons was strong, and they managed to score two goals, leaving the Hawks in a tight situation as they felt the weight of the match. As the second half began, the Hawks regained their pace returning to the field with determination. The team went strong, and Massi continued making crucial saves. The team was truly soaring like a hawk!Their efforts paid off, and in a thrilling moment, Luis Gomes (9), better known as Lockz, scored his first goal of the match. He intercepted the ball inside the box and sent a quick and precise shot into the bottom corner of the net, giving hope for the EABH team. With their energy restored, the team continued to play fiercely, with crucial passes from players Mathieu Lessage (11), the captain Pedro Almeida (10), and Tiziano (13), who was making his ISSL debut this season. Soon after, Lockz scored his second goal, making the time tie with the opponent.
The team's spirit is back on track, and the crowd is excited and cheering for the Hawks. The PASB players in the crowd joined the Hawks shouting out the players, like Pedro Luiz (8) and Chase Mason (12). The game ends with the Hawks celebrating their performance, being able to recover from the initial difficulties and tie with the Falcons, with a score of 2-2.
To bring it to a perfect end, Mr. Jaime, the upper school principal, showed up at the end of the game, inspiring the players to work even harder, and in the end, celebrated the match with the Hawks.
