On September 24, the EABH hangar was alive with intense energy as students, teachers, and staff gathered for the highly-anticipated pep rally to kick off the first ISSL season of the school year. The event began with an outstanding cheerleading presentation performed by the elementary school students, who showcased their spirit and excitement which contaminated the entire student body.
Next, Hawkie the Hawk made his way around the Hanger, high-fiving the crowd and cheering up the already enthusiastic crowd. Shortly after, Mr. Jaison took the spotlight to announce the achievements of the academic clubs that were rewarded on recent trips such as congratulating the MUN and Knowledge bowl teams.
The pep rally then shifted its attention to the athletes as the captains of the sports competing this season delivered motivational speeches. Mariana Lana, captain of the girls soccer team; Summer and Carol Bonato, co-captains of the girls' basketball team; and Pedro Jorge, captain of the boys' basketball team; each spoke about their team's hard work and determination. Unfortunately, Pedro Almeida, boys soccer team captain wasn't able to join, however, the other captains filled the room with words of encouragement to the athletes about to represent EABH.
Following the speeches, the athletes made their way through the crowd, high-fiving excited students. A memorable moment, as the school united to cheer for the hawks before they headed to their upcoming competition.
SALC president, Mariana Lana, introduced a kick-ups competition between 2 teachers and two students. Mr. B and Ms. Claudia representing the teachers, and CJ and Romeu the students. The crowd cheered loudly for their favorite, with Romeu ultimately winning the event. The energy remained high as the students participated in a basketball game called knockout.
The event came to an end with the school's anthem “We will Hawk you” as athletes cheered enthusiastically for the trip ahead. With the school's full support behind their backs, the Hawks are set to go to the first ISSL season.
