The perfect drama for Christmas
Jenny and Josh were the perfect couple. Jenny with her blue and wandering eyes and soft blond hair, and Josh with sun-kissed skin, eyes dark as midnight, and chocolate-toned short hair. They were the perfect couple, Jenny the one who talked, Josh the one who listened.
Close to Christmas, Jenny’s mother called to invite them to her house to celebrate .
The next week, Jenny and Josh were already at the girl's mother's house for Christmas Eve. The house was covered in snow and had lots of Christmas lights. Jenny knocked on the door anxiously waiting to know how Julie, her mom, would react to her new boyfriend. The door flew open and out of excitement, Julie jumped and hugged her daughter, but when she pulled away she looked at Josh and her eyes widened. She looked at him up and down. “Is this your boyfriend?” she asks with a mix of surprise hidden by disgust. Speechless, Julie asked them to come in and gave Josh a cup of water while she called her daughter to the side. In the kitchen, Julie looked pale. “Are you okay, mom? Why didn’t you like him?” Jenny asked, concerned about the problem. “Honey, you can’t be with him, he’s…not good enough for you!” Jenny could see the lie right through her mother’s eyes. “Don’t lie to me, what is it?!” Jenny asked angrily, “You are not the only child I have! Before you were born, I met a man different from your father and I had Josh…” silence filled the room; not a single soul would know what to say in a situation like that. Imagine the feeling of finding out that the love of your life is your brother! “OH MY GOD! What do you want me to do? Just tell him everything, like nothing has happened?” Jenny screamed at her mother, “Yes! for sure, you can’t date your half brother!” Julie explained “Yes… You are right, it's the right thing to do.”
Later at night Jenny, Josh, and Julie got together in the living room. There was an unusual feeling between them. “Josh, I've got to tell you something that can change both of our lives.” Jenny said desperately. “What, my love?” Josh asked. “We can’t be together anymore!” Jenny said with hot tears streaming down her face. “Why? I thought you loved me!” Josh said furiously. “I do!” Jenny affirmed; “Just not in the same way as I did before!” “YOU ARE MY SON! You can’t date your half sister!” Julie said, just before another moment of extreme silence filled the room. “So… You are my mom… and Jenny is my half sister?” Josh asked, still trying to understand what was going on. “Yes! I’m sorry I didn’t tell you before! I planned on meeting with your father, but I just couldn’t” Julie said. “Okay… So what should I do now? Can I stay for Christmas, or should I leave?” Josh asked, knowing everything was going to change. “Please stay!” Jenny and Julie implored together.
That's how things went—they acted the whole Christmas as a family. It was happy but confusing for both of them to keep their lives going like nothing had happened. After Christmas, they all followed different paths. Julie stayed at home, Jenny went back to New York, and Josh went back to California, hoping to spend more time with his dad.
