In a thrilling match against TBS URCA Falcons, the Hawks started strong. The match began with a burst of energy as Thiago Loures (5) quickly scored two baskets, causing the crowd to go wild. Shortly after, Chase Mason (6) followed up with another basket. It looked like victory was guaranteed, playing in sync and precision.
However, the Falcons soon shifted the momentum, and with a strong offense, they took the lead. By the end of the first quarter, TBS URCA was leading with a score of 10-6.
As halftime approached, the Hawks were not able to match the speed of their opponents. The score stood at 17-10, with the Falcons holding the lead. EABH Coach Fred, visibly frustrated, called a time-out. The sound of a clipboard crashing into the floor echoed across the court, followed by his determined shouts.
The game continued, with both teams maintaining their pace; however, the Hawks went through a significant impact when the team captain Pedro Jorge (7) got injured midway through the third quarter. He laid on court unable to continue. As the paramedic took him off of the court, applause erupted from both the Hawks and Falcons sides, demonstrating the true essence of sportsmanship from the crowd, coaches, and athletes.
By the end of the third quarter, the Falcons were leading 24-15. With just one minute left to win the game, TBS URCA replaced their team with the Junior team, while the Hawks continued to struggle.
The match ended 32-22 in favor of the Falcons. Though the Hawks could not take today's victory and didn't classify, their determination and resilience in the court were clear and admirable.
